In this video, I’m sharing the full process of creating two unique oak wall clocks from natural cross-sections of an oak log — each about 360 mm in diameter.
These wood slices were gifted to me by a friend years ago, and I’ve kept them ever since, waiting for the perfect project.
Since oak log slices tend to crack over time, I decided to prevent future damage by intentionally splitting them along the small existing cracks, then reassembling the pieces like a puzzle. After that, I filled the cracks with epoxy resin mixed with pearlescent pigment, creating a strong, stable, and visually striking base for the clocks.
For the clock face, I used spent brass bullet shells that I once collected at a shooting range — each one now marking an hour in time.
To make the design even more dynamic, I added wooden gears that mimic the movement of a real clock mechanism.
Both clocks turned out exactly as I envisioned — one will stay with me as a memory, and the other I plan to sell.
