29 women and children from Hostomel live in one small room, sleep in turns, have no food or things. That’s because they are Roma.
And although these children and women, like other Ukrainians, fled the basement under fire and were forced to step over mutilated dead bodies, volunteers are in no hurry to support them.
Once they reached Uzhhorod, they sat at the station all night, waiting for the settlement. Eventually, Vasyl, a local Roma, found them there. Uncle Vasia settled people in his own house, and he moved in with his daughter.
“Why are our children defending Ukraine and we are being told that we are gypsies, that we are nobody? It's not fair. This infuriates me”, said Uncle Vasia resentfully, whose son has been serving in the Armed Forces since 2014.
